Tom Richardson has developed a diverse art practice surrounding drawing, painting and 3D animation. Alongside his practice as a contemporary artist, Richardson works professionally as a 3D artist and motion designer providing services to a varied list of international clients.

Born in 1990 in Hastings, United Kingdom, Richardson studied from 2011 to 2015 at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Canada. In 2016 Richardson was a cofounding member of Duplex, an artist run society in Vancouver that regularly hosts exhibitions and offers affordable studios to artists. In 2020 Richardson relocated to Germany where he continues to live and work in Cologne.

Richardson’s work has been the subject of numerous international solo and group exhibitions, screenings and art festivals. Over the winter to spring period of 2017-2018 Richardson was artist in residence at VIVO Media Arts Centre in Vancouver which culminated in his first institutional solo exhibition "Big Industrial Zoetrope". His work has featured in international exhibitions such as the 21st Milan Triennale, DC Open, and the Capture Photography Festival. Richardson’s work was recognized with The President's Media Award for Best Installation during his time at Emily Carr University and is held in numerous private collections.
